Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Yummy Dish Diary handles information when you use our app, website, and related services in the United States.
Effective date: June 18, 2026
Who we are
Yummy Dish Diary is a personal food diary and social posting app that helps you save meals, photos, ratings, restaurant details, notes, and food memories. This Privacy Policy applies to the Yummy Dish Diary mobile app, this marketing website, public share pages, and related support or online services.
This app is designed for personal food journaling. It is not a medical, nutrition, or healthcare service, even though meal notes may reveal dietary preferences or other sensitive details you choose to save.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may collect:
- Account and sign-in details, such as your email address, sign-in provider, authentication identifiers, display name, profile photo URL, account creation time, and last sign-in time.
- Profile details, such as your handle, avatar, uploaded avatar or banner images, bio, profile visibility, follower counts, default currency, privacy settings, and notification preferences.
- Push notification information, such as notification permission status, notification preference choices, push token records, app version, build number, platform, token update times, and token disablement records.
- Food diary content you create, such as meal names, ratings, notes, tags, restaurant names, restaurant details, photos, prices, recipe links, favorites, dish categories, and timestamps.
- Social and sharing content, such as public posts, comments, comment replies, comment hearts, public share-link payloads, follower or following relationships, follow requests, reactions, in-app social activity records, reports, blocks, hidden posts, and public-post activity signals such as impressions, views, dwell time, hide actions, source surfaces, source rank, session identifiers, and event identifiers.
- Data export and account-deletion request records, including status, download availability, and operational audit information needed to complete or troubleshoot those requests.
- Device, diagnostics, and usage information, such as app version, build number, device model, system version, locale, time zone, crash logs, performance data, approximate region, feature interactions, support diagnostics, and recommendation signal summaries used to improve or personalize discovery.
- Support information you send us, including your contact details and the contents of your request.
We do not intentionally collect payment card details. If paid App Store features are offered, Apple processes payment information under Apple’s own terms and privacy practices.
Photos, restaurants, and location
You may choose to add meal photos, profile images, restaurant names, addresses, map details, coordinates, or other location-related notes. We use that information to show and organize your diary, favorites, restaurant history, posts, share pages, and related app features.
Yummy Dish Diary is not designed to track your precise location in the background. If a feature requests device location access, your device should provide a permission prompt and you can change that permission in system settings.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide, sync, back up, and personalize your food diary.
- Authenticate your account and protect your data.
- Display app features such as search, favorites, restaurant grouping, public and follower recommendations, personalized or ranked discovery, profile controls, comments, replies, comment hearts, reactions, follows, reports, blocks, public share links, and in-app activity notices.
- Process account deletion requests, data export requests, short-lived export download links, and related support or troubleshooting records.
- Send service messages, support replies, and in-app activity notices you request or allow.
- Send opt-in push notifications for supported public-post activity, such as new comments and Loved it reactions, when your device and app settings allow them.
- Maintain safety, prevent abuse, review content with automated moderation tools, debug errors, and improve performance.
- Analyze aggregate app usage and public-post activity signals so we can improve recommendation quality, ranking, safety, and product performance.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We may share information in these limited cases:
- With service providers that help us host, store, secure, analyze, and operate the app, such as Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Firebase App Check, Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Analytics when enabled, Google Cloud services, and sign-in providers.
- With safety and moderation service providers, including OpenAI moderation services, when needed to review public, publishable, comment, report, profile, image, or private-share content for abuse prevention and service integrity.
- With Apple or other platform providers when needed for app distribution, sign-in, notifications, purchases, or device-level services.
- With other users, website visitors, or people who receive a share link when you choose to make content public, publish a post, comment on or reply to a post, use a public profile, follow someone, approve followers, react to posts or comments, or use a social feature.
- For legal, safety, security, or fraud-prevention reasons when we believe disclosure is necessary.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections for user information.
Public posts and aggregate recommendations
When you publish a meal post, the app may display a sanitized snapshot of that post, including meal, restaurant, photo, rating, caption, tag, category, price, and currency details you chose to save or share, related comments and replies, comment activity counts, and your public profile details to the audience allowed by your profile and sharing settings. Public-profile posts may also be available on public web share pages at yummydishdiary.com.
If you opt in to aggregate or nearby recommendations, eligible meals may contribute to public spot or dish summaries. Those aggregate summaries are designed to remove your name, private notes, prices, and visit dates, but they may include restaurant or location details, counts, ratings, top dishes, and optionally public photo URLs.
We may use public-post activity signals, such as views, dwell time, hides, Loved it reactions, Want to try actions, comments, shares, reports, and follow activity, to maintain aggregate post stats and private recommendation summaries. These signals help rank public recommendations and personalize discovery without exposing raw internal score maps to other users.
Moderation and safety review
We use automated moderation and administrative review tools to help protect public, publishable, comment, report, private-share, and profile surfaces. Moderation may review text and image URLs you submit or choose to share, and backend-only audit records may store moderation status, model, flags, scores, and related review metadata. Public or publishable content, including comments and replies, may be blocked, hidden, removed, or held for review if safety systems flag it or are unavailable.
Private-only diary content may still be saved if automated moderation is unavailable, but review metadata may be created so we can investigate safety issues without turning every private note into a public moderation record.
Your choices and rights
You can update or delete certain profile, diary, photo, comment, social, visibility, search, post-sharing, and settings information inside the app when those controls are available. You can also request a data export, delete your account, or contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or export of personal information.
Depending on your state, including California and other US state privacy laws, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, obtain a copy of, or appeal decisions about your personal information. You may also have rights to opt out of certain uses. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
California residents may ask us to disclose the categories or specific pieces of personal information we collect, the categories of sources, the purposes for collection, the categories of third parties or service providers involved, and the categories of information disclosed. California residents may also request deletion or correction, use an authorized agent where allowed by law, and opt out of sale or sharing if those practices ever apply. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the app, maintain your account, process exports and deletion requests, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the service. If you delete your account or request deletion, we will delete or de-identify personal information unless we need to keep limited information for legitimate legal, safety, security, audit, or operational reasons.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No internet or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Yummy Dish Diary is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Third-party links and services
The app or website may link to restaurants, recipe pages, app stores, maps, sign-in providers, or other third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice through the app, website, or another reasonable method. The updated policy will be effective when posted unless stated otherwise.
